Second Grade
2.1

It is fun to be in the second grade. I sit at a desk. I have a good teacher. In the morning we read a story. Today we will sing a song in music. We will add in math. I like to draw in art.


A Trip to the Farm
2.2

I went on a trip. I saw my grandma and grandpa. They live on a farm. I liked their barn full of animals. I fed the sheep. I played with the rabbit in a pen.


A Silly Question
2.3

Once upon a time there lived a silly queen. She wanted a hot air balloon made of gold. The king could not find one. He had one made for her. When the queen went for a ride, it would not fly!


The Frog
2.4

A frog can be big or small. They eat bugs, other frogs, and small fish. Frogs live on land and in water. They are very fast and can jump far. In the winter frogs sleep in the mud.

Dogs

How much do you know about dogs? A dog is well when it has a cold, wet nose. He can hear better than he can see. A dog has 42 teeth. That is ten more teeth than boys and girls have.


Bird Nests

Each mother bird makes a nest for her eggs. They try to make nests near food so they can feed their babies. One nest looks like a bag of grass in a tree. Some make nests on rocks high above the sea.


The Zoo

I'm so happy! I've been to the zoo with my family. It was fun to see the red fox and baby goat. I liked the brown deer with white spots the best. I'll be happy when we go again.

The Boat Race

Four days ago we went to a boat race. Eight boats raced over the lake. A long, green boat came in first. A black boat was next. An old, red boat was last in the race. It was an exciting day.


Winter Fun

At last it was winter. White snow fell during the night. I put on my coat and ran out to make a snow house. The snow was very deep in the yard. I used boxes to make snow blocks for the house. I went for a ride on my sled after it was done.


Christmas Letter

Dear Santa Claus,
This Christmas I'm making a wish for my brother and sister. My brother wants a train. My sister wants a doll. Both of them hve been good. Merry Christmas, Santa!

Shopping at the Mall

Mr. and Mrs. Green went shopping at the new mall. They looked at a store map to find the stores they needed. They shopped for a long time. Then they stopped to rest and to eat a meal. They bought some toys, a book, and some gum for their boys.

The Class Party

The teacher asked two girls to bring a treat to school for the class party. They brought many bags of candy. Some boys and girls ate too much candy. It made them feel sick. They might not eat any more candy for a long time.


Making Cookies

It is easy to make sugar cookies. First you mix the dough. Then you pat it out. Do not make it too thick or too thin. The next step is to cut out some cookies. Then put them on a pan. You may need help to put them in to bake. Let them cool off before you try one.


Playing in the Park

Last night there were some kids running in the park. They were playing Kick-the-Can. Tim hid near a tall tree. His friend ran into him while getting away from Bob. They fell so hard that Bob came to see if they were hurt.
