Kindergarten - Second Grade
For students in these grades, the focus in the computer lab is to provide another placefor them to practice the math and reading skills they are learning in their classroom.

Third - Sixth Grade
Students in grades three through six will learn keyboarding techniques and will be expected to achieve a proficiency appropriate for their grade. We will also work with spreadsheets, basic word processing skills, and file management.

Internet safety and research is part of the curriculum as mandated by the state. We follow the programs provided by the state to teach internet safety. Each child is required to have a signed permission form before they are allowed to use the internet. A district permission form can be printed on line, or I will have some printed in the computer lab. The Alpine School District rules and regulations for internet use are also available online or I have printed copies in the lab.

Computer Lab Rules
• Respect Yourself - do your best by trying every assignment - the only way to learn is to try.
• Respect Others - do not distrub those around you & listen when the teacher is talking.
• Respect the Computer - no food or drink in the computer lab & use the equipment only for what you have been asked to do.

Grading Procedure
Grades will be calculated according to the Mount Mahogany Elementary School standards. Your child will recieve either a pass or fail grade in computers along with a percentage. The equivalent letter grades for those percentages are as follows.

Participation and following class rules will be 45% of their grade. Completion of assigned projects will be 45% of their grade. Attendance will be the remaining 10%.

You may access your child's grades by going to PowerSchool on the internet. Choose Mount Mahogany Elementary from the drop down menu, enter your ID and password and you may check your child’s progress throughout the year.
